The rating that you score on a credit score scale varies from one model to another. There are two types of credit score scale models popularly used - VantageScore and FICO. VantageScore model ranges from 501 to 900 and hence, the highest rating on this scale would be 900 whereas the range in FICO scale is between 300 and 850. Hence, on the FICO scale, the highest rating would be 850.

Today’s economic condition is such that it would very difficult to achieve the highest rating on any of the two credit score scales. But a few people, as less as 0.5%, have achieved the highest rating of 850 by prudently following all credit rules

Having the highest rating can be a boon and a bane too. It is not necessary that you need to score the highest rating to avail the best deals from creditors and financial institutions. A score of 720 on the credit score scale is sufficient to avail loans at low rates of interest.
